The Stork Club in NYC was a very swanky night club from the 1930′s until 1965. I have in my possession an ash tray from the club. It had belonged to my grandfather, who lived in Brooklyn in the 40′s. I’m not sure how he got it. But after he passed ( in the 60′s), it made it’s home on my parent’s book shelf…and now it’s home on mine!
The Stork Club was frequented by the rich and famous…
…even though I have never smoked, it is still fun to have this piece of history among my Collections!

I remember it so well! Didn’t Dad’s pipe sit in it (when he wasn’t smoking it)?
Yes, you are right! I’m so happy to be a non-smoker; wish he had been.
Great story. I like how you have the ashtray on the shelf with the other items.
Thanks BJ. I love book shelves…so much room to put your “stuff”.
Hey Margot…you posted about your Stork Club ashtray!:) Is that a photo of your grandfather next to it?
Yes, that is my grandfather.
