To Dwell: to reside; to live in a given condition, as in, “to dwell in happiness”. What a beautiful word; we do not just live in our homes, we dwell there. Come with me to visit my friends in their homes in the series called “Real Women*Real Spaces”. These are regular women, but by no means ordinary! I want to capture them in the rooms they love, in the homes where they dwell in happiness…and in a style unique to each.
Today we visit Andrea in Maine. Andrea happens to be my little sister and I was visiting for her son’s High School Graduation Party. Her home is a center hall Colonial that was built in 1985 and is in the Portland area. It is a beautiful setting, nestled in the trees. Besides being a charming, country home, one of the things that make it so unique is that it is filled with many handmade crafts and artwork from Andrea’s family. Such talent! You will also spot many antiques that she has collected since before she was married (my favorite)!

Kitchen:
Cedar Porch: the braided rug was made by Andrea’s Mother-in-Law, and the stained glass window (there are 2) by our Dad
2 oil paintings by Andrea’s husband:

Andrea’s Mother-in-law would walk the beaches of Cape Cod, collect rocks, and paint on them…mostly Angels.
can’t leave Maine without a couple of pictures from our walk:
thanks Andrea! it was a beautiful party and weekend
we can’t forget the graduate…congratulations, Ben!!

Loved the house, loved the furnishings, loved the artwork, loved the setting! What a great family!
Margot, I love Andrea’s house. It is so down to earth and welcoming. Your brother in law’s paintings and the chalk picture by your Dad are beautiful.
Love the artwork.
Just looking at the pictures again. Your sister has your decorating talent as well. Her husband is an excellent artist and so was your Dad…and the stained glass. It is special that both you and she have items of your parents and she even of her in-laws. Lovely home and so special a celebration. Lovely all around…
So very cute and, again, special, the picture of you and your sister. Do you remember what was going on in that picture…so cute.
Glad you all enjoyed! BJ, the picture is from one of the many camping trips we made as a family of 7. Sadly, I cut my bother out of the picture!!
