My friend Mindy called me for some help on her guest bedroom.  She had painted it yellow with white trim and had purchased a Laura Ashley spread, blue curtains and white sheers.  And now she wanted advice on how to make it more Shabby Chic.  This room will primarily be used by her grand daughter.

So, where should we look first?  My favorite antique store that is close by, of course! Our mission is to find something for the head of the bed: either a headboard or a corner shelf, something so the bed is not just sitting there alone! Look what caught our eye…

Gorgeous panels seemed perfect for the space…ok, load it up!  (I hated to leave the other one behind)

We loved the way it looked…and Mindy spotted the “moss” and had to have it to drape over the panel

Here are a couple of other items that made it home too…

A cute frame…and she purchased the old black and white post card to go inside

This is such a sweet piece and the colors are perfect.  Someone spent a great deal of time with wall paper, lace, ribbon and old pictures to make it so sweet. It even has a black cat that looks like Mindy’s cat, Inky. See why I recommend antique stores?  You never know what you will find.  Check back to see how we incorporate these items.  Mindy’s next decision is which dresser to put in the room; then we will most likely purchase a mirror too.
