This Designer Showhouse took place January 2009 to sponsor Meals on Wheels of Rockland County, NY. The house is a beautiful, European-style, overlooking the Hudson River. I was chosen to decorate the kitchen; I decided on a theme of “Winter Morning”. As you will see, it is set for a family of 4, on a snowy, wintry, morning. Can you smell the coffee and bacon?

The kitchen was painted an ordinary, Decorator White. Because of the great amount of light in the space and the dark brown cabinets, I chose Benjamin Moore “Branchport Brown” for the walls and Benjamin Moore “Cottage Red” for the nook. The windows are not covered with any treatments so as not to block the amazing view.

Bar area set up for an evening with friends.

Don’t be afraid to think outside the box when decorating your home. Use bold colors if you like them; don’t use only new furniture (the kitchen table is an antique); it’s great to mix and match styles (this modern kitchen looks very appealing with the Rustic look); you don’t always need fancy drapes in every room, be creative with your windows; bring in nature (see the branches and pine cones); be creative with the room (even use leather club chairs in the kitchen). If you have questions, you can ask me through “Contact” at the top of the page. Have Fun!!

You do nice work. Why not try Charleston, SC?
Hi Lynn, thanks. Is Charleston where you live? I have done work in Greenville, SC!
The tree sprigs around the window trim is a nice touch.
